Introducing LinkUp

LinkUp is our second daily game. Twelve photos hide four groups of three. Find what links each group, but watch out: on most days, one link is fake.

How to play

Tap three photos you think belong together. If they share a link, the group locks in and shows its name. If not, you lose one of your four mistakes. You can ask for two hints when you're stuck, and the game is over when you've found all four groups or used up your mistakes.

The fake link

Most boards include a trap: three photos that look like an obvious group but aren't one of the answers. Spotting it is half the fun. When you fall for it, the game tells you, so you learn the trick for next time.

Why pictures instead of words

Word-group games are great, but photos make you look rather than read. An apple, a block of cheese, an ice-cream cone: is that food, or things that are yellow inside, or something else? Pictures open up links that words give away too easily, and they're fun to scan on a phone.

Every photo comes from Wikimedia Commons under a free licence, and each one is credited to its author inside the game. We check every board by eye before it's scheduled.

Every day at midnight UTC

A new board arrives every day at 00:00 UTC, the same for everyone. Your streak and stats are saved on your own device, and when you finish you can share your result as a grid of coloured squares, without giving the answers away.
